Adventures in Self-Publishing w/ Mary Wagner (FREE)

Come learn about the ins and outs of self-publishing with local Author, and Photographer, Mary Wagner.

This is a FREE, all-ages class. (No sign-up required.)

Mary T. Wagner is a former newspaper and magazine journalist who changed careers at forty by going to law school and then becoming a prosecuting attorney for the State of Wisconsin. But she never could stay away from a keyboard for long, and the joy of creative writing found its way back to the surface!

Wagner started her second stage of writing adventures in 2006 with the blog, Running with Stilettos, and the essays she posted there—about shoes, love, chocolate, family, nature, and the occasional power tool—began to win literary awards. Over the next several years she rounded up her blog essays, as well as reflections that had appeared on other websites such as MORE.com and GROWINGBOLDER.com, and self-published four essay collections. The first of these, Running with Stilettos, took first place for creative non-fiction in the National Federation of Press Women’s annual communications contest. The third, Fabulous in Flats, was named “Book of the Year” by the Florida Writer’s Association in 2011. And then Wagner shifted gears once again and began to write and illustrate a series of delightful children’s chapter books featuring a rescue kitten and a small town circus museum, starting with Finnigan the Circus Cat.

Wagner’s experiences in self-publishing have been both a learning curve, and an absolute delight in terms of adventure and opportunity. Her presentation “Adventures in Self-Publishing” combines practical advice with carpe diem enthusiasm for making the most of the self-publishing experience!
