Author Event w/ Tony Walas

Local Author, Tony Walas, will be sharing his passion for music and answering questions about his book! He will also be selling a selection of vintage sheet music, with 50% of the proceeds going to benefit WordHaven.

Introducing Visions of Music – Sheet Music in the Twentieth Century – a beautiful hardcover coffee-table book, 340 pages long and lavishly illustrated with over 700 faithful reproductions of sheet music covers. The book is fully annotated and is a visual treat, providing a fun and informative retrospective on an aspect of our music history that has been sadly neglected and unappreciated.

Tony Walas graduated and received a BA from the University of Illinois in 1975, with a major in history. He spent his entire career – 47 years, from 1973-2020 – working in the print music industry in Chicago, in both music retail and wholesale operations. He started collecting sheet music in 1985, and has accumulated almost 8,000 titles. He is now retired, and living with his wife in Kohler, WI.
