Reading with Rescues w/ Ryan Burg

WordHaven is partnering with Sheboygan County Humane Society to share some quality time with humans, adoptable pets, and books!

A representative from the Humane Society will be here with applications if you find a love match with one of the adoptable pets in attendance at this event.

Free Event (Donations for the Humane Society Accepted)

The adoptable pup is Chip!

Chip is a two-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier who survived a plane crash last year. He is undergoing treatments for heartworm and needs a foster or foster-to-adopt home for him. (During treatments, dogs have to stay very low key with very minimal exercise.) He loves life and loves to play, so staying calm has been frustrating for him. As soon as he is allowed, this active boy will want to run and play with you all day!

Sheboygan School Board Member, Ryan Burg, will be our reader this month.

As a parent, one of Ryan's favorite activities was reading chapter books to his then young children. Through their shared experiences with him, Max and Alex still remember how to make sugar snow from Little House In The Big Woods, what Winnie the Pooh called Heffalumps and Woozles really are, and the definition of the word allegory from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. His love of reading to young kids is just as strong today, as Ryan volunteers at Bookworm Gardens regularly. Ryan currently serves on the Sheboygan Area School District Board of Education, a position he has held for 11 years; and is also a Senior Associate at HSA Bank.
